Skipping Stones Inspiration Challenge 139- Cupcake Cutie + Giveaway

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

Just popping in today to share and card I created based on this week's Skipping Stones inspiration photo challenge.

The design team and our guests are using Cupcake Cutie this week.  I created a card from a piece of Hawaiian Shores cardstock (PTI) and covered it with some festive patterned paper from Pebbles.

Next I scallop cut a rectangle of Harvest Gold cardstock  (PTI), wrapped with Berry Sorbet grograin ribbon (PTI), tied into a bow and adhere to the card.  I stamped the cupcake liner in Hawaiian Shore ink and frosting in Harvest Gold and Summer Sunrise (PTI) onto a scalloped circle.

The sentiment was stamped in black ink (Versafine)onto a yellow banner finished off with a couple blue pearls (Queen & Co.).

Here is this week's inspiration photo that was the starting point for my card. We would love to see your take on this week's inspiration photo and are running a little contest over at the Skipping Stones Blog.  One lucky participant will win a Skipping Stones Stamp set of choice!!

While you are on the blog, check out the amazing cards our Design Team and guests created using Cupcake Cutie.  I bet you would love to have this sweet addition to your stamp collection, and I just happen to have an extra set to give away!! Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner!

Good morning!

Big thanks to everyone who dropped by over the past few days and left a comment for a chance to win the Grapeful set.  The winner of the set is Carol who left a comment on July 21 at 9:51 p.m.  Carol, feel free to drop me an email at scrappy_diva (at) yahoo (dot) com and let me know your mailing address.

I also thought I would share a little card I made recently with Grunge 2 and some Cosmo Cricket patterned papers.

I started by stamping the film strip repeatedly on some cream patterned paper, trimmed and adhered to a card based covered with patterned paper.  The arrow is chipboard covered with more patterned paper and I added a little stitching detail with a black pen. The little wood people are from Studio Calico.

Well, that's it for me today, hope your week is off to a great start! Thanks for stopping by!

TGIF Feature Friday + Giveaway

Hello!

I wanted to share a card I created today for today's Feature Friday at Skipping Stones Design.

I started with a dark brown card base.  On white cardstock rectangle, I stamped the chevron stripes or zig zags, as we like to call them, from Grunge 2 repeatedly.  I adhered the stamped rectangle to another piece of white cardstock that I debossed with an impression plate and adhered to the card base.

On a piece of melon cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from Sentiment Frames in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.  I notched the end and adhere to the card.  A dark brown button tied with twine finished off the card.

So it's been a bit of a long week around here, and I don't know about you, but I am delighted that it is finally Friday!!  In honor of all things TGIF, I have a Grapeful set to give away today!

To win the set, please leave me a comment below with your email address so I have a way to contact you if you win.  I will do a drawing from all comments received by Monday, July 23 at 5 p.m. ET.  I will announce the winner here on Tuesday.

Good luck and thanks for stopping by!

Skipping Stones- Inspiration Challenge 137

Good morning!

Just popping by to share a card I created for the latest inspiration challenge at Skipping Stones Design.  This month, we are taking a break from the sketches and offering inspiration photos to get the mojo going.

Here is the card I created based on this week's photo:

I chose to focus on the colors in the photo for my project.  Lately, I have been inspired by other artist and designers who have taken a classic shape, in this case a cloud, and turn it on it's ear by filling it with unexpected color and pattern.  Who says that clouds have to be white or even gray?

I turned to several Skipping Stones sets to add the color and pattern to the clouds including Pumpkin Seed, Garden Stamp Kiss, Grunge 2 and the sentiment is from Always Here.  To add a bit more interest to what could otherwise be a flat card, I did deboss the card front with a linen texture embossing plate after I stamped the sentiment and before I adhered the clouds.  A few coordinating buttons finished off the project.

Here is this week's inspiration photo.

Love this photo- there are so many different directions you could go with this and the design team and guests really showcase a lot of the possibilities.  Please be sure to swing by the Skipping Stones Design blog to check out their takes on this week's challenge.  Don't forget that today also starts another inspiration challenge on the blog.  We want to see how this week's photo has inspired you- check out all the details on the store blog

Well, that's it for me today.  Hope your week is off to a great start and thank you for visiting!

Introducing Darling Damask

Good morning!

This week, we are unveiling a brand new stamp set with Skipping Stones Design, Darling Damask. This set is absolutely stunning featuring two lovely damask patterns and a swirl pattern plus lots of sentiments making it perfect for weddings and other formal occasions.  Below is a card I creating using this new set:

I stamped one of the damask images repeatedly on coral paper with a dark orange ink.  I distressed the edges with a few swipes of white ink.  Along the bottom, I stamped the other damask pattern on a piece of light aqua cardstock that I scallop cut and adhered along the bottom.  The sentiment is from Heartsong 2 that I stamped in brown onto a bit of lightly patterned paper from a My Mind's Eye pack.  Some twine, gems, doily, a large flower, and a stick pin finished off the card.

Stop back here tomorrow for a blog hop featuring the whole Skipping Stones team and our guests featuring our newest set!

Thank you so much for stopping back- have a fabulous day!

Skipping Stones and Ribbon Carousel Blog Hop

Good morning and Happy 4th of July for my friends in the USA!  Today is an awesome day at Skipping Stones Design because we are teaming up with the talented crew from the Ribbon Carousel for a blog hop full of all kinds of stampy and ribbony goodness!

The Ribbon Carousel was so kind to give each of us on the Skipping Stones team selected ribbon from their June 2012 ribbon kit and using this week's photo from Skipping Stones July Inspiration challenge, here is what I came up with:

On a panel of cream cardstock, I die cut 3 stars.  I selectively inked one of the sentiments from Christmas Song and Celebrate the Season, just became Celebrate.  I added some patterned paper from Canvas Corp to the bottom and pleated the luscious navy ribbon from our kit and adhered it to the card.  A large button tied with twine finished off the ribbon treatment.

I stamped the woodgrain patterned from Grunge 1 on cream cardstock using a pale linen ink.  I attached the two layers together using foam adhesive and adhered the completed card front to a card base made of kraft cardstock.

What's an awesome blog hop without prizes??? Hop along and leave some blog love for our designers for a chance to win one of 2 great prizes!  The Ribbon Carousel will be giving away a ribbon carousel and Skipping Stones Design will be giving away a stamp set of the winner's choice!   Winners will be announced on the Ribbon Carousel blog on Saturday at 8:00 PM EST!

Wouldn't this make an awesome addition to your crafty space?

Ready to hop?!
Lets do it!

Don't forget that Skipping Stones is also hosting our weekly challenge and this time- it's an inspiration photo- hop over to the Skipping Stones blog for all the details and to link up your take on the sketch.

Stamp It Cards: Birthday Challenge

Hello!

I don't know about you, but I love the look of using die cut negatives in design and I am trying to challenge myself to do just that on my projects. A couple months ago, I picked up some new Lawn Fawn goodies at Simon Says Stamp and using my Spellbinder Circle dies with the goal of using negative die cuts, I created the following card:

I started by determining the circle placement and die cut the circles on a piece of white cardstock. Next I stamped the sentiment in black. I then layered the die cut panel over another piece of white cardstock and lightly sketched the location of the circles with a pencil.  I stamped the patterns in the circles. I adhered the two layers together and attached the panel to the card base with foam adhesive. A couple gems finished the card.

I am linking up this card to Cath's Stamp It Cards: Birthday Challenge in Moxie Fab World.

Thanks for stopping by!
