Waterbrush Watercolors {Avery Elle}

Hello friends,

Just popping in to share a technique using Avery Elle's new liquid watercolors along with the Loved and Admired stamp set. I just can't stop using the liquid watercolors.  I love the liquid formula- no more messy muddy paint pans- these watercolors are ready to go right out of the bottle! The liquid formula also lends itself to some easy techniques- like adding color directly to the barrel of a waterbrush.  Watercoloring doesn't get much easier than that.  A list of supplies and links are below.

First, I stamped and heat embossed the wreath image onto a panel of watercolor card stock using Avery Elle's Rose Gold embossing powder.

To watercolor the wreath image, I added drops of Avery Elle's Liquid Watercolors in Mint to Be and Cherry to the chambers of two waterbrushes.  Using the waterbrushes, I easily added watercolor pigments to the wreath image.   If the color is too pale, you can add more drops of the watercolor pigment to the barrel.  If the mixed color is too intense, add a little more water to the chamber.  Once you are finished with the watercolor in the waterbrush, just rinse out the chamber and the brush to switch colors or go back to plain water.

I die cut the wreath and stamped the sentiment with Versamark and embossed it with more Rose Gold embossing powder.  I die cut the bottom of the white card stock panel with the scallop Dotter Border Elle-ments die before adhering the panel to a mint card base.

I have a quick video on Avery Elle's You Tube channel to show you this technique in action and how my card came together.  I hope you'll check it out!

You've Got This! {AE Challenge}

Hello and Happy Friday!

Today starts another AEI{heart}U challenge and this week's theme is GOLD.  Mmmmmm gold. I LOVE me some gold!  I used the Brushed stamp set and came up with this:

On a cream card stock base, I stamped the long brush stroke repeatedly to create bold black stripes. Next, I heat embossed the "You Got This" sentiment on black card stock with gold embossing powder and die cut the card stock into a circle.

I attached the circle to the card with a bit of foam tape and added a few gold sequins for a little more gold.  Never enough of a good thing, right?

Well that's it for me today. Be sure to stop by the AEI{heart}U blog for even more inspiration from the design team and to link up your take on this week's challenge.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping by!

I want to hear you ROAR

Hello,

So I know things have been a bit quiet on the blog front of late... hangs head... I have been busy working on lots of stuff, some of which I can't show you yet.... ;)   But mostly, I have just been busy.

One card I wanted to share with you today is my paper ode to Katy Perry's pop anthem/song Roar.  I don't know if it's hit your radio waves yet, but it's all over stations in Northeast Ohio and I kinda love it. It's so catchy and a great message too.  Check out the video here.

When you find inspiration in recent popular culture, sometimes it's a challenge to figure out how to capture it without a stamp set, for example, that spells it out. So I turned to my computer and came up with this:

I created a text box in Microsoft Word and typed my text and printed onto a piece of lightweight cardstock.  Next, I stamped the image of the lion (The Craft's Meow- Birthday Puns) and the starburst (Avery Elle- Bright Days). I trimmed the cardstock, punched the corners and mounted it on red cardstock.  I adhered some enamel dots in the corners before adhering it to a embossed piece of Aquamarine cardstock and attaching the completed panel to a white cardstock base.

The fonts I used were Orniste and Simplicity.  Both can be downloaded for free on DaFont.

Well, that's it for me today!  I will be back a bit later this week with a fun Neat & Tangled Halloween project.  Hope to see you then! Thanks for stopping by!

Avery Elle- Shoot for the Stars

Hello friends, Happy Wednesday!

I am just popping in today as Avery Elle's guest designer for September to share a card I made with the Written in the Stars set.

  Avery Elle- Written in the Stars

 I adore the many, many occasions that this set covers... love, friendship, birthday... and I thought that for this week, I would try an encouragement card. I stamped the background strip repeatedly on a card I made from Aquamarine card stock.  Next, I die-cut a stitched circle and stamped the star arrow and sentiment.

I die-cut a star border from yellow and orange card stock, matted it to black cardstock and adhered it on a diagonal across the front of the card.  I adhered the stamped circle with a bit of foam tape. A couple small die-cut stars accent the sentiment and arrow image.  I really like how these bold colors work together. This card would even work for a recent graduate!

Well that's all for me today!  Be sure to stop by the Avery Elle blog to see the other amazing project from the design team that Jamie is highlighting today.

Thanks for stopping by!

Edited to add:  I got a question about what I used to create the tiny stars on the sentiment circle.  I used these border dies from Papertrey Ink.  The stitched circle is from Lil Inker designs.
