Skipping Stones Sketch Challenge 149

Good morning!

Skipping Stones Design introduced another fantastic retro sketch challenge today.  This week's sketch is by Cristina Kowalczyk and I used Beautiful Botanicals and Everyday Blessings to create the following card:

I used Beautiful Botanicals and stamped the large floral image in versamark onto a tag I cut from cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder.

The sentiment and the leaf image stamped on the brown cardstock are from Everyday Blessings.

Here is a look at this week's sketch:

Kindness Matters!

Good morning and TGIF!

Today is the big day at Neat & Tangled!!  All 5 of the new releases are for sale as of 8 a.m. this morning.  If you want to run, run over to the Neat & Tangled shop to fill your carts, I completely understand.  I will be here when you are finished shopping. ;o)

Today, we are showcasing Kindness Matters.  I love, love, love this set for many, many reasons. One, because it's true- kindness does matter!! Second, the set lends itself to all sorts of occasions.  I will me using this set often as I nearly go through as many thank you cards in a year as I do birthday cards!   I also love how Danielle combined her gorgeous handwritten script with classic and elegant fonts making the set super versatile for all kinds of styles!

Ok, enough gushing about my love for this set... on to the projects!

My first card shows the combination of script and font for a thank you note.  The papers are from Echo Park For the Record 2.  Look closely at the red patterned paper- the hearts are an image from the set and that image lends itself to all kinds of fun background building.  I also selectively inked and added a heart to the end of the "you are" script.

Second up is a CAS and punny card I made by combining Fresh Blooms, Little Bear and Kindness Matters.
First, I stamped the swirl and the hive.  Next I selectively inked one of the larger sentiments from the set.  I was really after the word "kind."  I find that my Memento Drop inks work super well for this.  Next, I stamped "BE," cleaned the stamp and inked up and stamped just the "E" so "BE" becomes "BEE."  I stamped the bee trio and colored in the images with markers.

Neat and Tangled New Release Celebration- Do Not Open

Good morning friends!

Neat and Tangled is releasing 5 new sets tomorrow morning, and today, I am sharing a little gem with you called Do Not Open.  I used this set to whip up a couple tags that are the perfect addition to your holiday gifts for those who need a little reminder that patience is a virtue. (I am looking at you Paige and Sophie!)

One of my favorite things about making tags is that they can literally be made from scraps as both of these examples were.  These tags also came together so quickly as Danielle thoughtfully designed the circle portion of the image to coordinate with a 1.5" circle punch making this set a perfect choice if you have many gifts under the tree that need tagging.

If you haven't already, be sure to to stop over at the Neat and Tangled blog to check out all the other amazing projects.  You can also leave a comment on the Neat and Tangles blog for a chance to win a set of your choice.  Also if you see something you like, it will be available for order on Friday, October 5th at 8 a.m. Eastern Time.

I will be back tomorrow to share some projects with one more set. See you then!

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks! SSD Sketch Challenge 147

Good morning!

Kim Kesti created one last amazing sketch for us to use this month at Skipping Stones Design.  We are also featuring our Grunge sets this week, so I pulled out Grunge 1 and created the following card:

I used the scallop pattern from Grunge 1 and stamped it repeatedly to create a background. Next, I cut some label shapes using a Spellbinders die and stamped the woodgrain pattern in coordinating ink on the tiles. I embossed the sentiment on the pink tile with white embossing powder.

Here's a look at Kim's sketch:

If you haven't already, be sure to stop by the Skipping Stones blog to check out the other amazing cards by our design team and amazing guest this month, Kim Kesti, Laura Bassen, and Julie Ranae Murray. Also, we want to see your take on this week's sketch!  Upload your approach to the Skipping Stones blog by next Monday for a chance to win a free stamp set of your choice!

Last week, Neat and Tangled revealed a new and very spookalicious Halloween set, Graveyard Shift!  Check of the Neat and Tangled blog today and tomorrow so see what I and the rest of the team created with this set!

Happy, spooky Friday!

Feature Friday- May all your wishes come true!

Hello and Happy Friday!

This week, I pulled out some recent and older Skipping Stones stamp sets and created a bit of a scene, well a scene on paper, anyways!

dsc_0072
This card uses Garden Stamp Kiss, Dandelion Dreams, Beautiful Botanicals and Breathtaking Butterflies. I first cut a piece of cardstock with a wavy trimmer and created a bit of a mask.  Then on a piece of light blue cardstock, I stamped the circle pattern repeatedly to create a grassy hill.

Next, with versamark ink, I stamped various botanical silhouettes and embossed them with colored embossing powder. To keep the powders from blending together, you will want to do one color or one image at a time.  I did yellow, then white, followed by pink.

I stamped a solid butterfly from Breathtaking Butterflies and embossed with pink embossing powder and stamped the sentiment from Dandelion Dreams in black ink.   Lastly, I debossed the finished panel with a canvas impression plate and adhere to a black cardbase.

I hope you like this little scene I created.... with my stamps!  Thank for stopping by!

Cheers Blog Hop+ Sketch Challenge 146

Good morning!

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit!  Today, the Skipping Stones Team is hopping with excitement over our newest set, Cheers!  If you are hopping along and arrived from Wendy's Price's blog, you are in the right spot.  If not, visit the Skipping Stone's blog and you can pick up the order from there.

Here's is the card I created for today's hop:

So Cheers comes with about the cutest border of fun glasses you will ever see.  I decided to make it even more fun by cutting off 3 of the glasses from the border.  I used the individual images to stamp the fun background you see behind the Happy Birthday sentiment.  (And it was so not scary and really adds a lot of versatility to the set! I will be back on Friday to showcase another fun idea for using these little stamps....)

Here's another look at the sentiment:

Here's is Kim's sketch that we are all using this week:
Well, I am the last stop on the hop today, so don't forget that we want to see your take on this week's sketch.  Go get crafty and head back over to the Skipping Stones blog to link up your approach.  We can't wait to see what you create!

Have an excellent Tuesday!  Thank you so much for hopping by!
