Papertrey June Blog Hop Challenge

Hello friends-

Despite summer being crazy busy, I had to make time to make a card for the Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop. The challenge this month was to create a card or project inpired by this dreamy photo.

Totally dreamy, right?  And here is what I came up with.

I was  inspired by the colors and the bands of colors painted on the wall.  I translated that to my project via patterened paper strips.  The costumes on the wall prompted the addition of the doily, rick rack ribbon and, of couse, tulle to the card.  Hope you enjoy my creation.  Thanks for stopping by! Happy blog hopping!

Trigger Tuesday: Lovely as a Lullaby

Hi folks!

I am back with another Trigger Tuesday from Cath's Moxie Fab World blog.  This week's trigger is this lovely.

Before I show my project, I just have to say that this trigger tugged at my heartstrings because, you see, one of my girls has a lovey blankie, as evidenced by the photo below.

This is Sophie,  also known as Toodles and Boots.  This picture was taken at my older daughter's dance recital.  See that piece of cloth in her hands?  That's "Lilky" kinda like "Silky," but once she started talking, she replaced the "L" with an "S" and once we could pronounce it, the name stuck. This humble piece of silk fabric has provided my darling Sophie with so much comfort and peace and reassurance over the past 3.5 years. It is only fitting that my project below is dedicated to "Lilkly" and lovey blankies everywhere.

Welcome Baby Card

I was inspired by the theme of the photo to make a sweet baby card with some of my new stamping goodies from Papertrey Ink and Waltzing Mouse Stamps.  The blankie colors and patterns in the photo translated to the soft blue, yellow and flax colors in the card as well as the the stripe and polka dot patterns. Finally the ribbon tags and well loved texture of the blankets in the photo inspired me to add texture to my card via a tissue paper overlay, ribbon, pom pom trim and a button tied with twine.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a "lovey" week!

Trigger Tuesday: Rainbow Bright

Ok... So it's clearly not Tuesday, but I am just getting around to participating in a Trigger Tuesday contest on the Moxie Fab World blog (click link for the deets).

Anyway the challenge was to make a card inspired by this photo.

And here is what I came up with.

I was inspired by the rainbow of colors lined up and decided to interpret that via a simple card with a rainbow of flowers all lined up in a row. White on white is a new look for me, but with all the other bright colors, I thought the neutral background worked well. For a little interest, I did adhere the stamped panel to the base using dimensional adhesive.

Cheers!

Katie

Smile

Good morning!

Just wanted to share a happy little card I created recently. I think the rainy spring we have expereinced here in NE Ohio is beginning to affect me- rainbows are showing up all over the place, even on my cards! LOL

I used Papertrey Ink cardstock in pure poppy, summer sunrise, simply chaurtruse, and hawaian shores punched with the eyelet border die. The sentiment is a KI Memories sticker I picked up at Jo Ann's on a recent visit.

Hope today gives you lots of reasons to *smile*!

Waltzingmouse Stamps is Turning 2!

Hi all-

Waltzingmouse Stamps is turning 2 tomorrow and in honor of this special occassion, Claire Brennan is offering a fabby prize to all those who help celebrate this birthday. Check out Claire's blog for all the deets if you too would like to play along.

Below is my contribution, a tea bag gift holder. I used the cupcake stamps from Frame It as the focal image. The papers are Martha Stewart. The doily and croched flowers were gifts that a message board friend sent me in a recent swap. The yellow flowers are ribbon trim from Making Memories.

Happy 2nd Birthday, WMS! Hope this year is your best yet!

Papertrey Ink- March Blog Hop

Hello friends-

It's blog hop time at Papertrey Ink and this month's challenge is Embroidery Floss.

"For the March Blog Hop we are challenging you to use embroidery floss in a fun and inventive way on your project. This could include stitching, wrapping it around and tying it like ribbon, braiding, accenting tags, embroidered patterns or anything else you can dream up! We look forward to seeing your creations!"
So I had plans for using floss to embroider one of the images from the Bitty Baby Blessings set, but unfortunately, this week has been a little crazy and this project sits unfinished in my craft room. There's always another day!

Instead, I offer you a get well card that I made for a dear friend who is recovering from surgery. I used green embroidery floss like ribbon and wrapped it around the card 3 times before threading a button and tying a sweet little bow.

Supplies (All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted):
  • Cardstock: Craft, White
  • Patterned Paper: Me and My Big Ideas
  • Stamp sets: Turning a New Leaf, Sending You, Background Basics Gingham
  • Ink: Dark Chocolate, Melon Berry. Tea Die Duo; Green Moss- Colorbox
  • Dies: Mini Envelope, Turning a New Leaf
  • Ribbon Roses: Stampin' Up
  • Other: Button and Floss (Bazzill Basics Paper)
Hope you enjoy! Cheers!

The thrill of victory... the agony of defeat

I am posting today with some very exciting news to share.... I just found out that a card I submitted to Paper Crafts Magazine has been accepted for publication. It's my first time being published (if you don't count the Ads by Kids contest I won in the 6th grade), so I am just thrilled. But with the one card that was accepted, four were declined.
Dr. Amber had the brilliant idea to showcase these unloved treasures through a reject blog hop.
Below, I am sharing three of the four cards I submitted for the circus call.
