Totally Awesome Birthday Card {Avery Elle}

Hello again,

I am on the Avery Elle blog today with a card I made featuring the Stoked stamp set and die.  I was so excited to see this set included in Avery Elle's new release because, let's face it, cards for boys can be tricky.  Stoked it the perfect mix of adventurous, cool, and cute- whether your kid is a rocker, a snowboarder or a skateboarder, Stoked has got you covered. All of the Avery Elle supplies I used on my card are linked below.

I covered a card with the sapphire doodle star paper from the Everyday Collection patterned paper pad.  Next, I die cut a piece of gray card stock with one of the dies from the Custom Panel Elle-ments to create a skateboard ramp.

I stamped and die cut the skateboarder and word bubble, coloring in the boy with Copic Markers.  I adhered the die cuts to the card and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder.

Supplies:

Well, that's it for me today. Be sure to stop by the Avery Elle blog for even more inspiration from the Avery Elle design team. Have a wonderful weekend!

A Very Viking Valentine {Avery Elle}

Hello friends,

I am on the Avery Elle blog today with a card I made using the Viking Clear Stamp set and coordinating dies.

Supplies:

I stamped the Viking and hearts, colored them in with the Zig Clean Color Markers, and die cut the images.  I die cut the scalloped heart from red card stock and adhered it to a Fog note card from the midnight collection. I adhered the Viking to the card with foam tape and added a strip of washi tape and the small hearts with dots of glue from a glue pen.

Well that's it for me today, but be sure to stop by the Avery Elle blog for even more inspiration from the AE Design Team!

Aloha {AE Challenge}

Hello and Happy Friday!

Today starts another AEI{heart}U challenge and this week's challenge theme is One Word.  What's One Word? Well it's easier than you think; it's creating a card with a single word sentiment. Think thanks, hello, happy, or even congrats!

So my word this week is 'Aloha' and it was the perfect chance to play with the new Surf's Up set.

First I created the beach and the water by die-cutting kraft and aquamarine card stock using Avery Elle's Custom Panel Dies.  I stamped the wave pattern onto the aqua card stock and adhered the die cuts to a white card base.

Next, I paper pieced the palm tree and stamped the smallest surf board in the set with three different colors of ink.  They are all lined up waiting for their owners to take them on the next great adventure!  Finally, I stamped my one word, 'Aloha,' with aqua ink.

Well that's it for me today. Be sure to stop by the AEI{heart}U blog for even more inspiration from the design team and to link up your take on this week's challenge.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping by!

Dad, You Rock Card {Paper Smooches SPARKS}

Hello friends!

It's time for another Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge and this week is a sketch challenge, or as we love to call it, a Designer Drafts challenge.  Here is my take on this week's sketch:

First I made a card from white cardstock.  Next I die cut the wavy border from the Borders 1 die set and stamped the stereo lights from Beboppin' in red, orange and yellow inks.  I stamped and embossed 'You Rock' from one of my very first Paper Smooches sets- Sentiment Sampler- on a strip of black cardstock.

The record is a Silhouette cut file and I stamped DAD using Mini Monograms. Some enamel dots and a couple music notes from Beboppin are the finishing touch.

Here is a look at this week's inspiration sketch:

Now it's your turn!! You have until 11:59 PT on Saturday, May 31 to link up your take on this week's challenge to the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog for a chance to win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Paper Smooches store. Woot woot!

Be sure to check out the amazing inspiration from the other members of the SPARKS design team playing along with this week's challenge:

Father's Day Card {Waffle Flower Crafts}

Hi friends!

Happy Saturday!  I am just popping in to share a Father's Day card that I created with Waffle Flower Craft's Hey Mr. stamp set.   Hey Mr. is such a great masculine set, and I adore the graphic tool set that Nina designed.

Using the tool images, I was able to stamp a pattern that looks just like a piece of patterned paper and I snapped a few pics along the way to show you how.

First I arranged the tools on my craft mat in a block formation.  I used the gridlines on my mat to ensure that the tools were straight and squared up.  Next I placed my acrylic block on the stamps and picked them up.

Next, I pressed the stamps into an ink pad and stamped them repeatedly.  I started in to bottom right corner and moved left before moving up the card.  I took care to stagger the stamped image to create a more interesting pattern.    I used a piece of printer paper under my project to catch the stray stamped images.

I stamped the sentiment on a green bordered label that I had in my stash.  I trimmed the stamped panel and wrapped some twine around it in an "X" formation before adhering it to a kraft card base.  I trimmed the edge of the label and adhered it to the card with foam tape.

Well that's all for me today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Watercolor Nautical Card

Hi friends!

It's time for another AEI{heart}U challenge and I think you are really going to LOVE this week's theme- it's... wait for it.....  Watercolor!!! Can I get a woot-woot??!!

So I am a total Watercolor neophyte and this card is actually one of my first attempts, so I kept it simple with just water and a few drops of reinker.

Once my background dried, I stamped the waves from Knotty in blue ink.  Then I stamped and paper pieced the boat image.  I stamped the sentiment and added a bit of red grosgrain ribbon and a button tied with twine before adhering the panel to a cardstock base that I debossed with a woodgrain impression plate.

Now it's YOUR turn! Go make something awesome with your Avery Elle stamps or free digi that incorporates watercoloring and link up your amazing creation to the  AEI{heart}U challenge blog.  Be sure to check even more inspiration from the Design Team as well as all the challenge deets and deadlines while you are there too.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I can't wait to see what you create!!!
Have a great day!

This Man is a Super HERO!

Hello friends!

Happy Monday!  Paper Crafts Magazine has a new special issue available this week called Card Creations for Him. Card Creations for Him is filled with oodles of clever card ideas for the special guys in your life.   I was lucky enough to get an advance copy as I have a couple of cards appearing in this issue.

This issue is, in a word my friends, AMAZING and it's only $5.99!  As I flipped through this issue, I had a huge grin on my face looking at all the fun and smart cards.

I wanted to share one of my cards that appears in this issue.  When I was creating for this publication, the movie Man of Steel was number 1 at the theaters, so I was trying to channel a Superman vibe.

I die cut a couple pennants and embossed this fantastic sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I trimmed one of the pennants and folded the pennants over a hanger clip (by Tim Holtz) to make a cape.

You can check out a sneak peak of the issue here or purchase your issue from the Scrap and Paper Shop here.

That's all for me today!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Stud Muffin

Hello lovelies!

I am on the Neat & Tangled blog today sharing a card I made suitable for the the big and little men in your life!  Last weekend, I was at a youth football game and saw a little boy wearing a shirt similar to this one.

 I am not sure that I have ever called anyone a "stud muffin," but I think it's an adorable term of endearment.  I pulled out Sketchy Cupcakes and thought about how I could turn the muffin into a "stud muffin."

I made a card base from kraft cardstock and trimmed a panel of patterned paper and adhered it to the front. Next, I die cut a stitched rectangle from white cardstock.  I also die cut the word "stud" using some alphabet dies on black cardstock.

I stamped the muffin top and wrapper onto cardstock and trimmed them out.  The stud part of the muffin was realized through the use of some bronze brad that have been in my embellishment stash forever.

I adhered the die cut letters and the studded muffin to the white rectangle and stamped "hello" from Just Hello to the card.

This weekend, this card will be making it's way to Grayson Savery.  You may have seen Danielle's post a few weeks back that she has reopened the Happy Mail for Grayson campaign.  You can read all about it here, and more about Grayson here.

I hope that it brings a smile!  Have a great weekend friends!  Thanks for stopping by!

Showing you my man card(s)

Hello friends,

A couple weeks ago, Paper Crafts Magazine had a call for masculine cards.  I have to admit that masculine cards are a challenge for me.  I have two daughters and am a bit of a girlie girl myself, so manly cards don't come easily.

I do love a challenge, so I tried to dig deep and find my inner "man card" and I managed to create and submit a few cards and had a couple picked up.  I thought I would share two of the cards I created that were not selected, but I love just the same.

This card was created with stamps and dies from My Favorite Things stamps.  The patterned papers are from the Hipster Collection by Basic Grey. I inked the edges of the cardstock and the  feather diecuts to add a little rustic flair.

The second card is a bit on the fun and cute side, but it's punny, and my hubby loves punny, funny cards! This stamp set is also by My Favorite Things and the truck was created with my Silhouette.  The patterned paper is by Studio Calico.

So now you have seen my "man cards," and I learned that masculine cards don't have to be a mystery after all!

Make today wonderful!  Thanks for stopping by!
