Stamp It Cards: Love Challenge

Hello friends-

What's that in the air- besides the heat and humidity?  Why it's LOVE!  Cath at Moxie Fab World is hosting a week of challenges to celebrate the latest issue of Stamp It cards and today's challenge is all about Love. In honor of stamping, and love, and my love for stamping, I offer you this little card:

On a white rectangle I stamped the branch from one of my very first Papertrey Ink stamp sets, Out on a Limb, in black ink.  In place of leaves, I stamped one of the little hearts from the Simple Valentine set. I matted the branch on a piece of red cardstock just larger than the white rectangle so only a thin border of red shows. I mounted this panel to a card base of white cardstock with some foam adhesive.

Here's a close up:

The sentiment, stamped in black, is from Botanical Silhouettes and I added a clear gem as a finishing touch.

You have until Monday, July 23 to link up your project to this post at Moxie Fab World.  I'd LOVE to see your take on this challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!
Katie

Cheers! Sketch Challenge 134

Good morning!

Just sharing a little card I created for Skipping Stones latest sketch challenge.  Our sketch artist this month has been the fabulous Cyndi Bundy and out talented guests have been Megan Aaron and Connie Mercer.

This week, we are featuring Margarita Birthday which is a super fun set!  I don't know about you, but frosty drinks always make me think about summer! Yea!

Here is my card:

Please forgive the dark background.  We had a yard sale at the house last weekend, and the spot normally dedicated to my project photography has been overrun my baby clothes and pricing stickers.  :o)

Anyway, I stamped the margarita glass and sentiment on a circle of cream cardstock.  I added some stickles along the rim to accentuate the sugar or salted rim.I then mounted the circle on some teal paper that I cut with Spellbinders Label 18.  I stamped and cut out a few lime wedges from Grapeful (new release May) and arranged them at the top like the banner you see in the sketch.  The patterned papers are from Heidi Swapp's Sugar Rush collection. I tied a black and white sheer ribbon around my finished card panel and adhered the panel to a black cardstock card base.

Here is another peek at this week's sketch:

Blog Hop- Breathtaking Butterflies

Good morning!

Skipping Stones Design is celebrating the release of our newest set- Breathtaking Butterflies and it's just stunning!

We are blog hopping today, so you should have arrived here from the amazingly talented, Karen Baker's blog. If not, head back to Skipping Stones Design where you can pick up our full hop order and start at the very beginning, which (we learned from the Sound of Music) is a very good place to start....

Our sketch artist this month is Cyndi Bundy and here is the card I created using our new set + Cyndi's sketch:

I took some liberties with the sketch- what stood out to me most was a pocket and a tag, so I used a library card pocket that I picked up at a local stationary/paper store and distressed it with some tea dye ink.  I stamped the butterfly and sentiment and adhered the card base that I had covered with some pretty paper from My Mind's Eye.  I also die cut a tag that I inked to match the pocket and ties with a bit of hemp twine.  Some lace, and a few velvet flowers and bronze pearls finished off the design.

Don't forget to link up your take on this week's sketch to the Skipping Stones blog for a chance to win a free set of Skipping Stones stamps! Here's another look at this week's sketch:

Next up in our hop, is our Paper Craft Magazine Gallery Idol, top 15 gal, Jennifer Ingle!

Thanks for visiting!

Love You Dude (and I used spray mist and didn't pass out)

Good morning!

Just wanted to share a card I created for Skipping Stones sketch challenge 131.  This is our first sketch for June by our talented sketch artist and newest Design Team member, Cyndi Bundy.

Here is my take on the sketch:

I used a few elements from Grunge 2 to create my card.  The man icon is available as one of the images in Funny About Men.  Inspired by the ink spot on the patterned paper (American Crafts- Amy Tangerine), I pulled out my spray mist and attempted to splatter ink.  Although it didn't turn out like I imagined in my head,  I didn't hate it- which for me is huge. I have a long way to go before I would consider myself a splatter artist like some of my friends and talented designers out there, but it's a start, right?

The banners are some washi tape that I had laying around.

Now it's your turn to create a card based on this week's sketch.  Head over to the Skipping Stones blog for all the details on this week's sketch challenge and to link up your take.  While you are over there, be sure to check out all the amazing creations of our talented designers and guests.
