A Hexagon Hello

Hello friends,

Happy Friday!  It seems like it's been a while since I had a chance to play along with a challenge over at Moxie Fab World, but this month is a good one, so I just had to make time.  The challenge this month is all about the hexagons and to play along, we need to create a project featuring this fun shape.

Here is what I came up with:

I got out my dies and a few scraps of cardstock and die cut some hexagons in various shapes and sizes. I cut a couple of the hexagons into diamonds and adhered them to a panel of cream cardstock.  I used foam tape on a couple of the shapes to add a bit more interest and dimension.   I stamped 'Hello' onto the yellow "hexalong" and added a spattering of gold sequins as an accent.

The card felt a little a little top heavy, so I added a strip of gold glitter ribbon to anchor it a bit. My final step was to adhere the cream cardstock panel to a kraft card base.

This card was inspired by the sweet geometric vignette I found at Oh Happy Day!

I found the shapes and colors of the hexagon trays (item 3) super inspiring and tried to capture that with my card.

If you haven't already, I hope you can find some time this weekend to play along with the Happy for Hexagon challenge at Moxie Fab World.  You have until Friday, March 7 to link up your take and join in all the fun! :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
Katie

FSS: Cloudy Without You

Hello friends,

Today is my last Design Team member post for Fresh Squeezed Stamps (sniff, sniff). Time flies when you are having fun, and the past 3.5 months have absolutely flown by!

For my final card, I pulled out one of my Fresh Squeezed Favorites, Weather Through and created this sweet scene.

On a white card stock panel, I stamped and masked and stamped the stitched cloud repeatedly. Using a post it note as a mask, I stamped the sun so that it appears to just peak out from behind the clouds.  I stamped the sentiment, added a few sequins in blue tones and adhered the panel to an aqua card stock base.

I will miss popping by on the Fresh Squeezed blog to share Saturday inspiration.  My thanks to all of you Fresh Squeezed Fans for your kind words and support!!  I would especially like to thank Ryann and Shannon for having me as a part of the Fresh Squeezed Family!

Take good card and thanks for stopping by!

AEI{heart}U Challenge: Birthday

Hi friends!

I couldn't be any more excited for today's post.  First of all, it's Friday, and that's always a good thing around here, but second, we are kicking off the very first AEI{heart}U challenge!  The theme of the first challenge is all about Birthdays and here's my card.

I used the large background builder from Circle It to stamp the polka dot background with pink ink on a white card stock panel.  Next, I inked up the 'Happy' from Fill In the Blank  with yellow, pink and orange ink.  The trick to this for me was using ink cubes, starting with the 'y' and wiping off the stray ink as I worked my way backwards.  I stamped 'birthday' in orange ink and die cut the star from Icon Fill in the Blank Elle-ments die on yellow card stock and attached it to the panel with foam tape. I adhered the completed panel to a pink cardstock base.

Please check out the AEI{heart}U blog for all the details on this challenge.  You're gonna want a piece of this because the challenge winner gets a free Avery Elle set!  Yay!!!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks for stopping by!

SPARKS Challenge: Thanks

Hi friends!

I am playing along with this week's SPARKS Challenge.  Our theme this week is Anything Goes and here is what I came up with!

I wanted to create the look of an old-fashioned thank you note on my card, so I die cut a piece of cream cardstock with the Borders 2 notebook die, then I stamped "thanks" and the adorable heart from Scripty Sayings on the cream paper.

I stamped and embossed the feather from Just a Note and die cut one of the vases from Crystal Clear 3 to act as my ink pot.  Before adering the panel to a cardstock based covered in pattern paper, I curled the edge of the panel around a pencil to add a bit more dimension.

You have until 11:59 PT on Saturday, February 22nd to link up ANY Paper Smooches project to the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog for a chance to win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Paper Smooches store. Woot woot!

FSS: Party Animals

Hello Friends!

Happy Saturday!  I am on the Fresh Squeezed Stamps blog today with a fun and fast birthday card idea to share that you can whip up as you are headed out the door.

I stamped the balloon giraffe from Life of the Party in a few different colors of ink on a panel of white cardstock and added a sentiment from Inside Scoop: Birthday.  I love the font used on this sentiment- it's so modern and fun.  The sentiments included with Inside Scoop were designed to go on the inside of the birthday card, but I thought this one worked nicely on the outside too!

As a finishing touch, I rounded the bottom left corner of the stamped panel, affixed a handful of enamel dots and adhered the finished panel to an aqua cardstock base. I think these bright and cheerful balloon party animals would be the life of any celebration!

That's all for me today.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

SPARKS Challenge: Love

Hey hey friends,

It's time for another Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge and this week is a Picture Perfect challenge.

I was inspired by the colors in the inspiration photo as well as the heart theme to create this card.  I die cut the Love word die in gold and lots of hearts in shades of pink and gold.  I haven't been using a lot of patterned paper recently, but I liked how this silver paper (from Target's dollar spot) featured a lot of triangles in a grid pattern.

Here is this week's inspiration photo:

You have until 11:59 PT on Saturday, February 15th to link up your take on this photo inspiration to the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog for a chance to win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Paper Smooches store. Woot woot!

FSS: Orange You Sweet

Howdy friends!

Spring Cleaning week continues at Fresh Squeezed Stamps, and today, I have a fresh take on one what I consider to be a FSS flagship set, Sublime Citrus.

I masked off a rectangle with some post- it notes and stamped the round citrus slice in warm shades of yellows and oranges with a bit of pink thrown in for good measure. I removed the post-it notes and inked up the sentiment and stamped it just below the citrus rectangle.  Super simple and great for mailing or even whipping up a few to give to a friend as a gift.

Be sure to stop by the Fresh Squeezed Stamps blog today for more inspiration from the design team using Sublime Citrus and more, plus a chance to win this fun set!

FSS: Over the Moon for You

Hello friends!

It's the February release and Spring Cleaning Week at Fresh Squeezed Stamps. Yesterday we previewed Close Your Ears: Deer and today we are dusting off some previously released sets and showing them a little stampy love.

My card uses the amazingly versatile set, Weather Through.  I have used this set on a few different cards previously (here and here), but I realized that I had not inked the moon and star images.  I am remedying that today!

I stamped and heat embossed the moon and star with white embossing powder onto a blue die-cut panel.  Next, I die-cut some clouds and a banner from a couple shade of yellow cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment in navy ink on one of the yellow clouds.  As a finishing touch, adhered a few white sequins.

Be sure to stop by the Fresh Squeezed Stamps blog today to check out even more inspiration from the design team!

Introducing Close Your Ears: Deer

Hello friends,

It's release time at Fresh Squeezed Stamps and today, we are showing off a super fun and trendy new set called Close Your Ears: Deer.  This set features a stylish deer head silhouette coupled with a couple sentiments that the deer may prefer not to hear.

For my card, I matted and adhered some patterned paper at an angle onto a white card base.  Next, I die cut a rectangle and stamped the deer head.  I die cut a speech bubble from patterned paper and stamped the sentiment, "oh shoot" in black ink.  I adhered the speech bubble to the card with foam tape and added a couple wooded chevrons as accents.

Be sure to stop by the Fresh Squeezed Stamps blog for more creative uses of Close Your Ears: Deer from the Design Team!

That's all for me today!  Thanks for stopping by!

FSS- Love you this much!

Hello and Happy Saturday!

I am on the Fresh Squeezed Stamps blog today with a double-header, two sweet cards for the little loves in your life! I am still thinking about Valentine's Day and this time I wanted to create a card that would work for the kids.  I hit upon a design that will work well for both boys and girls by just swapping out some colors and patterns.

Since I have daughters, I started first with the girly palette.

I was inspired by the I Love You This Much sentiment from Love Signs and in thinking about things that are vast, (to represent a large amount of love), I hit upon the idea of the ocean and combined a few of my favorite FSS stamps to make this scene.

First I stamped the sentiment from Love Signs and the whale from Breath of Fresh Flair on a white cardstock.  I masked the whale and used the scalloped border stamp from Background Check to create the water and waves.   Lastly, I stamped and masked the cloud and sun from Weather Through.  I rounded the corners and adhered the stamped panel to a pink cardstock base that I covered with some fun polka dot patterned paper.

By swapping out some ink colors and the patterned paper, here's the same card in a more boy-friendly color scheme.   I think this one will go to my nephews.

That's all for me today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!
